OpenEdit opens our first office in Valparaiso, Chile, South America

Hola from Julie Riley and OpenEdit from Valparaiso, Chile!

I arrived in Chile to visit and help organize our new OpenEdit office in South American! OpenEdit has experienced quite a bit of growth and we now have OpenEdit offices in Cincinnati, Ohio, Toronto, Canada and Valparaiso, Chile.

We have a staff of developers in Chile responsible for the continued back-end support and development of OpenEdit. Veronica Ramirez, Jorge Guerrero and Jorge Valencia bring the total of our OpenEdit staff to 12, with further growth expected! OpenEdit's office in Valparaiso is also handling our South American sales, service and support.

OpenEdit looks forward to working with our newest staff members in Chile!

I need to mention something about my first adventure in Chile!

Upon arriving in Chile, Christopher Burkey and his mother Maria Paz met me at the Santiago Airport, to drive me to the beach resort town of Zapallar where Maria Paz lives and Christopher is staying with his family

While driving to Zapallar, Christopher's car overheated and eventually broke down on the highway. Now you must understand, this is not like breaking down in the States, where a quick call to AAA solves your problem. We were between a desert region and a mountain range named, Chilean Coast Range, heading to our destination of Zapallar, a small coastal village.

Maria Paz decided we should hitchhike, so we did. We were picked up by a semi-truck! As I've always wanted to ride in a semi-truck, I was quite excited to do this! The driver pulled over and packed the three of us and all of our luggage  and took off down the road! Maria Paz and I sat in the sleeper, while Christopher sat with the driver up front. The trucker took us as far as he could and from there a taxi cab driver, who happened to be rushing to a funeral, took the time out to drive us all the way to Zapallar!
