HTML is the basic language of the web as spoken by your browser. Trouble is, nobody actually speaks HTML. We speak English, or Spanish, or French, or whatever languages you've learned to communicate with other people.
That said, some of us do speak HTML because we need to speak to browsers every day. Still, there's no need to have it visible unless it's required. With OpenEdit, knowledge of HTML is a bonus, not a requirement. If you want to see the HTML, great. Click Source and away you go. For the rest of us, just type away and let the HTML editor do the rest.
The
Visual Editor tool is used to make changes to your HTML.
To ensure easy access to this tool when and where you need it, we have located the pencil icon throughout your OpenEdit web site at the top left corner of all your editable content. HTML pages, product descriptions, and just about everywhere else you need to make changes, you will find this icon. This tool is completely browser based and requires no download and install. Of course this tool is only available when you are signed in to your OpenEdit web site. Also, your account must have edit permissions. This is to ensure that only those granted edit privileges can edit your online content.
You should note that editing and approval permissions are separate. This is so you can provide editing privileges to those that need it without being required to grant them the power to publish to the live site. This capability allows the editing workload to be distributed to the right people while keeping the responsibility for publication to the live site to those deemed appropriate. The system is flexible and flexibility means we can adjust the system so it will work for you.
