Initial ConfigurationFor local development, I have installed Apache 2.2. JS2E 5.0 and Tomcat 6.0 using fairly vanilla folder names on my Windows XP machine. I would like to do my website development in a folder off the root called C:\websites, with each website in a subfolder. How do I configure OpenEdit to support this development environment?

Nothing special is required for OpenEdit - it is deployed just like any other Web application in Tomcat. This is really a tomcat question - see tomcat.apache.org and look at the docs here:
http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/index.html
You need to edit the tomcat config files to point at the c:\websites\ - look at the sections on virtual hosting for some ideas.
On the newest version of tomcat, you will need to edit [tomcat directory]/conf/server.xml. Towards the bottom of that file you should see something like this:
<Host name="localhost" appBase="webapps"
unpackWARs="true" autoDeploy="true"
xmlValidation="false" xmlNamespaceAware="false">
You will just need to change the appBase value to the location you want, so something like this:
<Host name="localhost" appBase="C:\websites"
unpackWARs="true" autoDeploy="true"
xmlValidation="false" xmlNamespaceAware="false">
Then place your openedit site into a subfolder of that websites folder; C:\websites\myOESite\[openedit files here].
Once you start tomcat you should then be able to browse to http://localhost:8080/myOESite/.
