Synchronizing Archives
OpenEdit's Media Archive can be synchronized with another instance of OpenEdit Media Archive. This feature is used to improve performance by replicating remote data on a local server.
Synchronization can be performed manually as needed or it can be configured to happen automatically on a schedule.
Adding Servers
To add OpenEdit Media Archive servers to the Synchronization Server List:
- Click on the "Site Manager" icon on the OpenEdit toolbar
- Click the "Edit List of Sites" link
- Click the "Add" button
- Fill in the "Text" field and "WebApp Url" field and hit the "Save" button
Note: the "ID" field is generated automatically but can be edited.
Manual Sync
To manually synchronize the OpenEdit Media Archive with another server:
Scheduled Sync
To schedule synchronization between two OpenEdit Media Archive servers:
Note: "runsync.xconf" and "runexternalsync.xconf" are example synchronization files.
You can create any number of .xconf files using these files as a template and add them to the Scheduler (see below).
Note: the property "siteid" matches the "ID" from the "Adding Servers" section of this page.
Note: The file extension is ".html", not ".xconf". This tells OpenEdit to run the action specified in the .xconf file.
